Bharatanatyam Dance
Bharatanatyam is one of the classical dance forms of India which has its roots in ancient culture and traditional practice. The dance form is known for its harmonious integrated philosophy, beauty, rhythm and joy. In the modern world it is emerging as an area of scholarly studies. Any Indian classical dance form cannot be studied in isolation. One has to study various other allied arts such as literature, music, sculpture and aesthetics.

Requirements :
Duration: Two - year program. (2 semesters in each year)
Required Units: Total of 30 credit units.
Required Courses: 6 mandatory and 4 electives.
General Admission Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an approved or accredited institution is required
- Practical dance training of at least 6 years

Six Required Core Courses:
- GBN 501: Textual Traditions (3 units)
- GBN 502: Practical Dance I (3 units)
- GBN 503: Composers and Their Contribution to Dance and Music (3 units)
- GBN 504: Practical Dance II (3 units)
- GBN 505: Thesis I (3 units)
- GBN 506: Thesis II (3 units)
Four out of Five Electives Courses:
- GBN 601: Sathvikabhinaya (3 units)
- GBN 602: Choreography (3 units)
- GBN 603: Indian Architecture, Agama Sastra and Dance (3 units)
- GBN 604: Rhythm and Nattuvangam (3 units)
- GBN 605: Traditional Theater Art Forms (3 units)
The evaluation has the following components- Final exams, Mid-term exams, Assignments, a Thesis, and an Oral Defense. Students will be awarded a degree in Master of Arts in Bharatanatyam Dance, on their successful completion of all the required courses, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher based on the evaluation weightages across the various methods/metrics.

Estimated Program Costs: $9,900.00 including Tuition ($9,000.00), Application Fee, Books, Registration Fees, etc.

Duration: One Year (2 semesters per year)
Required Hours: 255 Hours
Required Units: Total of 5 courses (4 core mandatory and 1 electives)
This program does not require internship or externship.
General Admission Requirements:
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- Practical dance experience of at least 4 years, which will be determined by University Faculty screening or assessment.

Core Courses:
- DBN 301: History, Origin & Development of Sadir to Bharatanatyam - 3 credit units
- DBN 302: Nayaka and Nayika - 3 credit units
- DBN 303: Practical Dance- 3 credit units
- DBN 304: Bhakthi Movement and It’s Influence on Bharatanatyam - 3 credit units
Electives Courses:
- DBN 401: Folk Dance forms of Tamilnadu – 3 credit units
- DBN 402: An Overview of the Dasarupakas, Nirupanas and Bhagavatamelas - 3 credit units
A student enrolled in the diploma program is evaluated using the following methods/metrics:
-Final exam at the end of each course
-Mid Term exam at the mid-point of the course
-Assignment
-Quizzes
Students will be awarded the diploma after they earn an overall combined GPA of 2.0 based on the evaluation weightages across the various methods/metrics.

Required Hours: 135 Hours
Required Units: Total of 3 courses
This program does not require internship or externship. The educational programs offered does not lead to a profession, occupation, trade, or career field requiring licensure in this state.

A student enrolled in the certificate program is evaluated using the following methods/metrics:
