Master of Arts in Bharatanatyam Dance
Bharatanatyam is one of the classical dance forms of India which has its roots in ancient culture and traditional practice. The dance form is known for its harmonious integrated philosophy, beauty, rhythm and joy. In the modern world it is emerging as an area of scholarly studies. Any Indian classical dance form cannot be studied in isolation. One has to study various other allied arts such as literature, music, sculpture and aesthetics.
This Master of Arts program in Bharatanatyam is aimed to harness the potential of an aspiring danseuse to be able to integrate skill, talent, aesthetics, and abilities with academic excellence. The program content has been carved out with in-depth knowledge by experienced scholars-artistes in the field, who will also handle the program.
The gnawing gap between theoria (Sastra) and praxis (Prayoga) that is often seen in the art spectrum will certainly be filled due to the well-designed program structure. This program augments the existing capacity of the students in the field of choreography, performance, teaching, and opens avenues for further research. Serious and dedicated practitioners and enthusiastic aspirants with training in Bharatanatyam will emerge as holistic visionaries after the completion of this graduate program.
